El Perro Azul is a performing arts project created and directed by Fernando Moreno. It was founded in 2010, in Logroño, La Rioja, from a personal, daring artistic stance, with the intention of creating shows and spaces for staged performances, capable of moving audiences of any age.
Beyond mere entertainment, the company’s work seeks to engage the spectator in an evocative encounter on stage as a common space in which to inhabit our questions and dreams. We create through gestural language, where the actor’s body speaks, while their words can fly.
It has also been included in the programmes of important international festivals, including the Festival Off Avignon (France), CINARS Biennale (Canada), International NAJ NAJ NAJ Festival (Croatia), Luaga & Losna (Austria), Komidi Festival (Reunion Island, France), Scènes & Cinés (France) and the AECID Programme (Macedonia and Slovenia).
In parallel to staging projects, El Perro Azul also creates theatrical exhibition spaces.
In 2010, it took its first leap forward with Teatrea, Festival de Teatro para niños y niñas, which quickly became a theatrical reference in La Rioja. More than 300 companies have taken part in the festival that will turn 15 in 2025.
In 2024, El Perro Azul ventures into the creation of Mute, Festival de Teatro Gestual de La Rioja, which takes place at the Museo Würth La Rioja. It is a festival that is committed to becoming an international stage reference, specialising in gestural theatre for all audiences.
